Springfield City Guide

With a population of 30,484 and a total area of 7.9 square miles, Springfield, Virginia is the epitome of small town living. It was founded in 1847 around the major point of interest—the railroad station—which was named after nearby Springfield Farm, and expanded considerably in 1975 when the Springfield Town Center (formerly Springfield Mall) was constructed. The mall is the 2nd biggest shopping center in Northern Virginia.

For a small town, Springfield has plenty of things to do. Visit the Hidden Pond Nature Center, with acres of woodlands, hiking or walking trails, and, unsurprisingly, a pond. The center has many youth and general programs such as guided walks and workshops.

If you’re so inclined, a great place to spend a Sunday mornings is at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, a beautiful old church with a vibrant pastor and, more importantly, comfortable seats, or Springfield United Methodist Church, with its very welcoming feel and lively music.

Springfield, Virginia has many self storage facilities around town for your convenience.

For something fun for the whole family, check out Flight Trampoline Park, an “entertainment, fitness, and sports facility,” which boasts 15,000 square feet of connected trampolines and launching decks of varying heights. Afterwards you may want to visit Kate’s Irish Pub, a casual neighborhood bar (of course, in a town this small, everything is “neighborhoody”). If you like the small town feel but prefer a bit of big city entertainment, head on over to Empire Nightclub where you can hear live local hard rock music or Moe's Peyton Place with its friendly staff and ultra nostalgic feel.

A great place to store trampolines or other sports equipment so as not to clutter up your home is in self storage units at a local facility.

It’s important to be familiar with the surrounding area around a storage facility and the additional services available to assist you either moving into or out of a self storage unit.
