Ivelisse de Leon had a job relocation from New York to Tampa, FL. And although at first there were tears, de Leon says she fell in love with the place. Oddly enough, she ended up going back to NYC two years later due to another job relocation.
“I cried I did not want to leave Tampa, FL. It has been five years now living in New York. The whole family returns to Tampa, FL several times a year with good reason. Things move a little slower and that’s okay,” says De Leon.

They have the “best” airport.
“Easy access from downtown, friendly and clean. There are many New York transplants and snow birds. Family and friends visit more often because you live in a warm climate,” says de Leon.
Davis Island is a wonderful place to live and has good public schools.
Hillsborough has a great library system.
The DMV/Voters registration is easy to maneuver.
Plenty of things to do.
“We love the museums, Ybor and restaurants. Check out the aquarium and Bush Gardens,” recommends de Leon.
The beach is a 30 minute drive from downtown.
De Leon recommends Pass-a-Grille in St. Pete and Fort Desoto Beach.
Traveling to Naples and other neighboring areas is easy via highway.
Tampa has a world-class hospital: Tampa General Hospital.

“A must visit is the Chiselers annual plant and flea market sale, The Oxford Exchange across the street,” adds de Leon.

Catch a baseball game, football game or music concert downtown.
A short car ride to Disney (this one is my favorite).
De Leon also says that Tampa has great food stores such as Greenwise and Publix and many people there are into fitness because of the weather.
She also says that the cost of living is also easier on the wallet and there are fewer taxes.
“With Bill Gates and Jeff Vinik investing in a billion dollar development in down town Tampa, it is the place to be,” says de Leon.
