Garage sales are becoming more and more popular these days because it’s so much easier to find them on a mobile device or computer. No need to drive around your neighborhood to get a deal anymore. Just get online and type what you’re looking for– odds are, you’ll find it faster than you thought.
We know Craigslist offers a spot to post a garage sale, and there are hundreds of Facebook groups exclusively created for selling or swapping new or used items. These groups are categorized by type of item or location and it can get very specific. These social network groups are free and almost anyone can join.
If you think that’s convenient, keep reading. We’ve got a list of the 4 best garage sales apps (in no particular order) for iPhone and Android devices, out there today.
I stumbled across this app when my Facebook group for selling and swapping started using it. It allows users to list what they’re selling as well as browse any item in a feed. Some will say ‘available’ or ‘sold’ making it easy to sort through the immense virtual garage sale. If you don’t have an existing group, no need to worry. Varage Sale will find some based on your location.
Another free and private app for neighborhoods. It connects neighbors and allows them to post items for sale or donation, create events to publicize garage sales etc.
Anne Dreshfield, Communications Associate at Nextdoor, assures us that the social network is a safe and secure place to find local garage sales.
“Every member is required to verify their address and that they actually live in the neighborhood. This ensures that members are selling to and communicating with real people who live close by – which is important if you’re on the hunt for some great finds!” says Dreshfield.
OfferUp is a quick way for sellers to list items and get local buyers. It works similarly to other apps but it has received a five-star rating from iPhone users, making it one of the best garage sale apps available in the App Store.
Yard Sale Mapper
This app allows you to find garage or yard sales near you and it accesses craigslist via your iPhone or Android device. The Yard Sale Manager has filters for location, day of week and distance. Information on products, location and directions is also provided for each garage sale site.
There are many more garage sale apps out there but they all pretty much work similarly. We recommend browsing and reading user reviews on your device’s store to see which one (or many) you like best. Have fun and ‘get your sell on!’
