With the conclusion of the 2013 NHL and NBA Playoffs, there are some players, coaches, personnel and fans who could probably use some extra storage space in their home now. Once the champs are crowned and paraded around the city the party begins and the team apparel flies off the shelves.
The Big 3 in Miami captured another ring, though not without major drama. After two relatively easy series, the Heat had to pull out a game 7 victory over the Indianapolis Pacers in order to advance to the NBA Finals. The Finals against the Spurs had a couple of blowout victories each way and saw the Heat down 3 games to 2. A clutch performance by the Heat veterans in Game 6 had them hit a 3 pointer with time winding down in the 4th to force overtime. In the extra session, they would pull ahead and force another game 7. In game 7, the Heat were too much for the Spurs and went on to win the 2013 NBA Title.
After back-to-back-to-back NBA MVP’s, back-to-back NBA Titles and back-to-back NBA Finals MVP’s, Lebron James might be running out of room in his mansion. He will probably have to build a separate room in his house just to house his trophies. Hey Lebron, instead of that, consider renting a self storage unit. It’s an affordable way to keep your prized possessions – just ask Kobe.
The Chicago Blackhawks capped an incredible strike shortened season by winning the 2013 Stanley Cup. The Blackhawks had an easy first series but then faced off against a hot Detroit Red Wings team. The Wings went up 3 games to 1 and put the Hawks on the brink. Showing the resilience, patience and skill they had all year, the Blackhawks fought back to tie the series and force a game 7. An intense overtime game 7 ended with the Blackhawks ousting the rival Red Wings with an improbable comeback in the series. The Hawks then blasted the Los Angeles Kings in 5 games and faced the Boston Bruins for the Stanley Cup. The Blackhawks took a 3 games to 2 lead into game 6 in Boston. Boston played a solid game and held the Hawks to 1 goal into the third period. The Bruins scored a late goal which looked like it would send the series back to Chicago for game 7 but in a span of 18 seconds, the Blackhawks scored two goals to shock the Boston crowd and bring the Stanley Cup back to Chicago for the 2nd time in four years.
Patrick Kane was named the Playoff MVP (Conn Smythe Trophy winner) and now has two Stanley Cup rings, a silver medal from the Olympics, a rookie of the year trophy and a Conn Smythe. He also has quite the hat collection after recording a hat trick in Game 5 of the Kings series. If Kaner needs a Chicago storage unit, there are plenty to choose from in the city.
