For those of you who do not live in one of the largest and greatest cities in America, this is a great time to plan a getaway to Chicago. Summer in Chicago is one of the best times for the city. There are hundreds of things to do from catching a baseball game on the north or south side, going to Navy Pier, walking down by the Lake or visiting the Taste of Chicago.
The easiest and quickest way to book a trip to the Windy City is most likely through a travel website such as Expedia or Travelocity. These sites should have everything you need to book a long trip or a short weekend getaway. From these websites you can book a flight, hotel and car if you need to. Your biggest expenses and worries, airfare and hotel accommodations, are already booked and out of the way so you can focus on any activities you want to do in the city.
The great thing about summer in Chicago is that the city doesn’t get too hot so you can walk around, enjoy the architecture and history of the city and not worry about melting along the way. Begin with a walk down the Magnificent Mile and stop in one of literally thousands of restaurants and shops. Continue walking south and make a jump over to Lake Shore Drive so you can walk by the beach. Stop by Navy Pier to look around as well. If you continue walking south on LSD, you will eventually wind up by the Museums, Aquarium and Soldier Field. That is a good amount of walking and will most likely take all day so you will probably want to get a cab or the L back to your hotel where you can find a restaurant for anything you want to eat.
Chicago has plenty of restaurants which offer a variety of food. In the mood for Italian? Try a Chicago style deep dish pizza where they actually put the sauce on top of the cheese or an Italian Beef sandwich, both native to Chicagoans. Greektown and Chinatown are also nearby if Italian isn’t activating your taste buds. You will be surprised at how many restaurants are in the area and how unique they all are.
The people are friendly, the weather is perfect and there is plenty to do in the city of Chicago. A summer vacation in the Windy City is just what the family ordered!
