Renting this unit was quite easy and straightforward

We were disappointed that at the time of our arrival at the rental building that there were only three carts available. We were told by staff that there used to be seven carts at this facility but that four had become unavailable (stolen? misplaced?) and we discovered that we would have to return at another time so that a cart would be available for use.

MOLD IN THIS FACILITY. DO NOT USE

I have had my things in storage for 14 months at Prime Storage in Asheville, NC on Bleachery Blvd. It was seemingly fine the first 10 months. I started noticing a mold smell on entering the building. The temperature that use to be so cool I had to wear a jacket in the summer months of 2021. Summer 2022 I came in and did not need to wear a jacket, it was warm, my clothes in the unit were damp, and I started to see mold on furniture. By the time I emptied my unit on 9/6/22, all my furniture had mold on it. I had to throw away my living room furniture, bed, and anything with material on it. The remediation people said none of that could be saved. I had insurance on my contents, but it does NOT cover mold. So the insurance was useless. I have since talked with the General Property Manager, Regional Manager, District Manager and now awaiting a call from the VP. Will they replace my contents that have been ruined and pay for remediation? Will they pay for my rent in an apartment that I can't live in because of the mold that I brought into it (unknowingly how bad it was). Will they pay for the place to live for 6 weeks before a remediation company can come start work? Will they pay the $5136 I paid for the past 14 months for a service of CLIMATE CONTROL that was NOT climate controlled? That remains to be seen and I will update this review when the VP contacts me. I spoke to other people who rented there and they were having trouble with mold as well. You can smell mold now when you go through the glass doors into the building. This was not just in my unit. Trust me. Save yourselves and your valuables. Do not use this facility. NOT to mention, they increased my rate by 27.8% over a 9 month period. They bring you in with a low rate and start increasing at 6 months.

I do have several comments for the owners/management. # I tried twice one day to get into the building; but, parking was blocked by two large moving trucks. The parking lot should be larger to accommodate all types of vehicles. # I have avoided going to my storage unit due to lighting. The lights on the second floor were not synchronized properly. Our unit is about half-way down the corridor and the lights did not come on until I almost reached the unit. That is an uncomfortable walk in the semi-dark alone ... not secure. I hope this has been repaired. I did report it at the time. # It would be nice to be offered discounts for paying in advance, seniors, veterans, etc. My husband and I pay for a full year at a time, are both seniors (retired) and Richard is a veteran. The rate increases can really add up year after year. # The management staff has always been nice and helpful and very much appreciated.

Convenient for what we need

While I’m satisfied with my decision to rent a unit, there’s one thing I wish would be acknowledged. I rented a 5x5 unit and after it was assigned and I was shown the unit, I immediately realized that my 5x5 unit was actually more like a 4x4 unit due to a thick support beam tucked into the corner of the unit effectively stealing part of what I’m paying for. I’m fine paying for the price listed for the 5x5 unit, but only having 4x4 available, I think there should be a price adjustment or, at the very least, a disclosure of the obstruction prior to signing the contract.

i find it absurd that a place where people move in and out of doesn’t provide a dumpster and have never been to a storage facility that not provided this amenity.

Safe storage but humidity levels are not low enough on the ground floor to prevent mold if storing for a prolonged period. Great customer service, clean, and secure. I would recommend this facility.

Barb is the nicest lady. Always willing to go out of her way to help, answer questions and she makes the rounds making sure the place is picked up. One thing that is disappointing is the lack of carts to move thing in and out. You have got to figure that one out!

Overall this is a great location and place to use for storage

I am surprised that the rate for storage has increased as much as it has with nothing additional being offered or shown for the price increase. Based on the fact that we have all gone through the pandemic together, I think the rates are high especially if this is the percentage of increase per unit.

Prices continue to rise, services continue to be "decent."

The facility is very clean and secure, and the attendants have usually been friendly. Unfortunately, getting someone to respond to issues is a process of emails and phone tag with out-of-town management. I was also unhappy with a summer period of at least a month, where I was paying high prices for "climate controlled storage," yet the thermometer/moisture detector in my unit was showing temps in the 80s and humidity in the 70s. Not only did they not bother to mention to customers that they were having HVAC issues and they might want to check on sensitive stored items; but once I noticed on two different trips and complained, they didn't even offer any reduction of storage fees when I would have been just as well off using an outdoor storage facility at half the cost.

Take your business elsewhere

Since changing hands the price of units has steadily risen without any reflection in service. Bad attitudes, condescending interaction, locked bathrooms on site at all hours, generally a negative experience. I’ll be leaving this facility and company ASAP and I recommend that you take your storage business elsewhere
