The elevator is intimidating and needs adjusting. The size, and function of it is like a warehouse elevator. There are many dolly’s and rolling containers to lug personal storage items ( limits trips back and forth).

we are in the process of moving and i got a lot of stuff. i went to 2 different storage places in albany area. all filled due to collage kids. menands had a 12x12 open and ground floor. which was great because i had large household/ grounds keeping equipment to store. riding mower, heavy equipment, benches, tools,etc. facility was clean and professional. i would def recommend to anyone.

Nice location

But the whole thing with the freight elevator is a turn off for me. Never been a place where the customer cannot operate the freight elevator. So move in and move out takes waaaay longer than it should if you arent on the first floor. You basically in order to save time load up as many carts as you can and then try to manage as you steer them to your floor to unload them. The plus side is it is inexpensive indoor storage but that freight elevator thing will pester you if you are using this warehouse to store your On The Spot Inventory.

Decent space, beware of elevator

Customers aren't allowed to operate the elevator, so you'll have to wait for the staff to go to and from your unit. In an emergency, could you even get out quickly? Price is average for the space, nothing special.

Overall, we had an extremely positive experience at Albany-Menands Self Storage. The staff there was very friendly and accommodating. They assisted us in bringing our items up the elevator and provided push carts, even assisting us in moving the carts once they were full. The carport loading area and elevator make for a convenient move. The storage unit and surrounding area was neat, clean, and easily accessible.

Although Harmony Mills looks a little formidable from the outside, the staff made you feel at ease. Toni met me on her day off to get me settled into my storage place and was very helpful.
